Our story as a potted history of report writing at Yardi

Deborah began at Yardi Systems in March of 1999 as a custom report writer. In those days it was Scripting both SQL Server and Oracle. Boardroom quality reports were done with macro based Excel. Deborah quickly became proficient in VBA, T-SQL, P-SQL and Yardi schema.
 

Then came Crystal. Deborah brought Crystal Report Writing first to Enterprise and then to Voyager. She was responsible for the direction of the integration and well as teaching Crystal to the Yardi community: employees, clients and consultants.
 

In 2003, Guy joined Yardi and immediately took over the YSL product development and, unbroken over the next 18 years, advanced the Yardi Excel Add-in to its present form, embracing firstly YSL.Net then adding YSR support and finally, in release five, abandoning YSL to focus exclusively on YSR - Yardi Spreadsheet Reporting - today's preeminent Voyager 7S custom reporting technology.
 

Together, Deborah and Guy have been seen haunting the halls of almost every Yardi YASC conference ever held in North America; initially teaching Crystal and YSL then, over the last few years, YSR. Occasionally, they could be found chairing the Reporting Panel, teaching Yardi Schema, Sql Scripting, Account Trees and Custom Financial Analytics.
 

With the advent of Yardi Account Trees, Deborah wrote a set of financial reports in Crystal referred to as the Crystal Account Tree Reports or CAT Reports for short. They were to become the backbone of Yardi financial reports and even today, the built-in Financial Analytics are based on the same logic. (They tie out!). Guy added Account Tree support to YSL and via his editorship of the YSR newsletter published a major issue which demonstrated how any of the four types of Custom Financial Analytics could form the data basis of a YSR report. Guy and Deborah are strong advocates of authoring financial reports residing on the native Voyager financial engine which are account tree based.  
 

In time Yardi moved from Crystal to SSRS. Deborah was responsible for the conversion path and replaced teaching Crystal at YASC to converting Crystal Reports to SSRS reports.
 

Over the past two decades, as well as custom report writing, Deborah has led the development of Yardi's Condo, Concierge and Standard Interfaces product lines. She has also been involved in the development of Canadian Social Housing, Legal and the New York Module. Guy authored the sample .Net pages for training of inhouse, incoming programmers, did the initial development of the mortgage module, participated as a team member for programming both YSL.Net and YSR, industrialized the Executive Dashboard and has been team lead for the annual publication of the Voyager 7S Data Dictionary.
